Do you believe in the power
of prayer? Maybe? Not yet? Let’s try it together.
Signs, wonders, and miracles of all kinds do
happen when people pray. If you want someone to pray with
you, members of our Prayer Team are available before or
after our Sunday worship service, or ask for an appointment
with a small group to pray with you.
You also can email any
prayer request 24/7 to:
office@midtownvineyard.org. Sue will make sure
your request is forwarded to our Intercessory Prayer Team.
They will immediately begin to lift your request(s) before
the Lord. We want to pray for you.
Why do we pray?
-
God desires an authentic, life-giving relationship with us, and we
connect with God through prayer.
-
Prayer engages the real
power of the Kingdom of God and the blessings Jesus came to
share with us: Restoration of relationship with God through
Jesus’ life, death and resurrection; spiritual, emotional, &
physical healing; deliverance from spiritual oppression.
We welcome you to visit any of our small groups and check out the
possibilities. You can come and go as you please. But you
might enjoy it so much, you just keep coming.
How do we pray?
-
We pray in practical ways through group prayer, adoration, listening and
obeying specific leadings of the Holy Spirit, reading the
Scriptures, and prayer walks.
-
We attempt to be biblical and emotionally low key when we pray.
-
We pray with
biblical authority in the power of Jesus’ Name, as followers
of Christ.
What kinds of prayers do we
offer?
-
We offer prayers of praise, worship, thanksgiving, and petition to God
(e.g. Lord’s Prayer; open, conversational prayer; silence
and listening prayer).
-
We invite the Holy Spirit to help
us understand the Bible and to speak to us about specific
issues in our lives and our community. We listen and speak
with God.
-
We also have trained prayer leaders who are
equipped to pray with you about developing a relationship
with God by receiving His Son Jesus Christ; inner healing
prayer for healing spiritual & emotional wounds; prayer for
physical healing; and deliverance prayer for overcoming
spiritual and generational strongholds. Just ask Sue for an
appointment office@midtownvineyard.org
Sample prayer to be in
relationship with God:
-
“Lord, I want to know you personally. I confess that I have done wrong
things (sinned), and I ask you to forgive me. Help me to
change and lead a new life. I believe Jesus died on the
cross to pay the price for all my sins and that he was
raised from the dead. Jesus, I invite you to come into my
life and be Lord (God) over every area of my life. Thank you
for saving me. AMEN (So be it).”
-
The Bible says that if you
confess with your mouth that Jesus is LORD (God) and believe
(trust) in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you
will be saved from sin, death and hell (hopeless and eternal
separation from God).
-
If you have invited Jesus into your life
to reign as your Lord, you have begun a new relationship
with God. We would be honored to help you grow in this
new relationship. Please contact us at
office@midtownvineyard.org.
We are here to help you grow even closer to God and explore
the wonderful spiritual journey He has for you. So let us
know, and we will do whatever we can to help you along the
way.
Call to Prayer before Worship
Let’s lift Midtown Vineyard in prayer before the Lord! Come a little bit
early on Sunday mornings and pray with us at 9:30 am
downstairs at the International School. We invite the Holy
Spirit to come and manifest his tangible Presence as we
worship. As the Bible says, “God inhabits the praise of His
people.” We pray for tangible encounters with God that lead
to an adventurous and intimate relationship with Jesus.
“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more
and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may
be able to discern what is best and may be pure and
blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of
righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ — to the glory
and praise of God.” (Phil 1:9-11)
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your
requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in
Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4:6-7)
“Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is
anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of
you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray
over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.
And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person
well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will
be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and
pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of
a righteous man is powerful and effective.” (James 5:13-16)
“Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his
tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must
turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue
it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his
ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord
is against those who do evil.”
(1 Peter 3:10-12)
